South African Safari
After spending a week in Cape Town and along the southern coastline, I headed further inland to where one of my best friends is from and experienced my first South African Safari adventure on a game reserve in KwaZulu-Natal.

As I sit here in Milan, freezing my little butt off, I can’t help but think fondly on glorious sunny trips of mine to warmer places around the world: in this case, Exuma Bahamas. If you’re a beach lover like myself, check out a couple other recent posts: “Sorrento, Italia” and “Cape Town Coast, South Africa“.
Sorrento, situated at the northern end of the Amalfi Coast, is one of my favorite places to visit when we head to the south over the summer. Stunning, isn’t it?
Images from my visit to South Africa a few years ago. The Cape Town coast was absolutely beautiful and the view from Table Mountain was amazing.
The island of Capri: One of the many stunning places to see while in Italy. Located off the southern coast, the gorgeous island is just a boat ride away from Naples or Sorrento and makes for a beautiful day trip or weekend getaway. (Photos taken this past August when my husband and I visited with some friends).
R E M I N I S C I N G Thinking back on an excursion my sister and I went on, located off the coast of Koh Samui, Thailand: It was a preserved national park and we spent the day kayaking, hiking alongside monkeys to the top of the mountain, and taking in the gorgeous views.
If you get the chance to go to South Africa, you won’t want to miss visiting the majestic looking Table Mountain, located in Cape Town. Its flat-topped mountain peaks (which resemble a ‘table,’ hence the name) reach over 1,000 meters above sea level. It’s quite an amazing view from the top – and considered one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature (in the world). For the adventurous ones, you can actually spend the day hiking up the mountain, but if you’re like me (somewhat adventurous but not interested in spending an entire day hiking up a mountain), there’s a tram 🙂
Where do we pull inspiration from? Everywhere. Especially nature. I’m in love with this color palette and if it was summer I would probably be inspired to paint something with the soft yellow lemon hue, the refreshing, vibrant pink grapefruit, and the natural tones from the ginger and wood.
One of our favorite days trips from Milan is to the quaint little city of Cernobbio, located on Lake Como. It’s probably about a mile long (or less), sits right on the lake, and is beautiful year-round, especially in the summer months when you can walk through the little city, sit outside in a restaurant with a refreshing glass of Prosecco and delicious cheese platter, or sip on a cappuccino in a cute cafe. I took the featured photo after a hike up the mountain that brought us to this gorgeous panoramic view of Lake Como.
Today was one of those gorgeous, crisp autumn days in Cernobbio (quite possibly our favorite little city/town on Lake Como). I had quickly snapped this shot as we were heading to the Wine & Food Style event that was being held at a venue across the lawn from this castle-looking structure – it was just too beautiful to pass up.
