Echoes in Eternity | il Colosseo

“What we do in life echoes in eternity.” – Marcus Aurelius

As I was looking through some photos of a visit to Rome this summer I stumbled on this one of the Colosseum, which I love, particularly because as I was taking it a bird hovered just above it and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect.

It made me think of the movie Gladiator, with Russell Crowe, one of my all-time favorites. There’s the famous line “What we do in life echoes in eternity” and it’s so powerful. The thing is, it’s never too late to make life count… and there is always the beauty of hope and redemption. 🙂

  1. I love the colosseum. I still remember the first time I saw it during my study abroad program. It was so epic. It’s incredible how it’s still standing, stil intact, yet everything around it has continued to change throughout the centuries.

  2. Doesn’t it make you wonder how long the buildings of today will be around for? Just thinking about how the ruins and Colosseum were around thousands of years ago… is amazing.
